Pakatan plans
on administrating this country with initiatives by the current Barisan Nasional
government
|
They say that
imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but Pakatan Rakyat fooled no one by
presenting themselves as the answer to the socioeconomic problems they’ve
concocted inside their heads.
What they’ve
presented as the GE13 manifesto has been heavily criticised for its lack as
sightfulness, as well as being a copycat to the policies and programmes of the
Federal Government.
In a recent move to lift the spirit, as well as appreciate the unvetted service provided by the civil service
and the Malaysian police and armed forces , Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Najib
Razak announced the parity of salaries for the civil service, the police and
armed forces under a new policy, Transformative Remuneration System (SST).
Several
initiatives were also announced by the Prime Minister, including a pay rise of
up to 10 per cent, improved costs of living allowances as well as housing
allowances for the 1.5 million civil service staff nationwide.
Here’s what
PKR Strategy Director Rafizi Ramli has to say about this: “It is utterly
irresponsible for Najib to woo civil servants unashamedly in the hope that they
will support UMNO and BN (in the coming general election).”
What he
failed to say was that his comrades in Pakatan, the PAS central committee,
actually approved of this raise and pledged to “match and improve” on any promise made by the Prime Minister in raising
salaries and allowances, should Pakatan win GE13.
How is this
not wooing civil servants unashamedly in the hope that they will support
Pakatan Rakyat?
“The PAS
central committee met and has taken the stand that any announcement made by the
Prime Minister will be continued when Pakatan Rakyat runs Putrajaya,” PAS
vice-president Datuk Husam Musasaid
as reported in Harakah Daily Online.
And how does
this tally with PKR Vice President Nurul Izzah Anwar’s infamous statement last
week which lambasted the security forces, and irresponsibly called for
restructuring of the police and armed forces, including abolishing the General
Operations Force and Special Branch?
How does PAS’
stand reflect on DAP’s Tony Pua who said that Pakatan will reduce the number of
civil servants by half when they are in power?
Civil servants
form a key demographic among the 13.3 million voters eligible to cast their
ballots in GE13. It is clear that both
the government and the opposition cannot afford to ignore this fact.
While the
government is making strides in appreciating and assisting the civil servants,
police personnel and armed forces, Pakatan Rakyat is confusing the rakyat with
its plethora of pre and post manifesto promises.
PAS says one
thing, PKR and DAP say another. This has always been the case, and this will
always be the case should these power mad opportunists takeover Putrajaya.
And let’s not
forget Selangor MB Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim’s infamous statement that a
“manisfesto is not a promise.”
